1906: A Meadowlark Production

From the minds of Meadowlark Productions comes "1906," a commemorative play based on the Atlanta Race Massacre of that year.

In 1906, more than 5,000 white men — fueled by hatred in an unproven, sensationalized news article about Black men assaulting white women — went on a lynching spree, destroying property and injuring dozens of Black men, women and children, with at least 25 known deaths. The killers were never convicted. Several local organizations have fought to keep the 115-year-old story alive by honoring the victims who met early graves under what we now know as Five Points, Castleberry Hill, and other Downtown areas.

This play, written and directed by Noah Washington and Solomon Simmons, recalls those four days of terror in September of 1906, from the eyes of young Black men who dared to defend themselves from white mob attacks.
